Adopted

OK, this boy has a GREAT family. We all are very excited!

Huck is a 18 month old male. His former owner was a young guy who used to take him hunting and running. He got out and was hit by a car and his back leg was shattered. The owner could not afford his care, so he left him to be euthanized. The vet called us and we went and got him. He has had surgery to reconstruct his leg. He has a pin in it and is recovering nicely.

This is an incredible dog. He is loving, affectionate, funny. Likes other dogs, likes to play, loves people. When his leg is healed he will be able to go running once again. He is very high energy but not hyper.

Huck will need to be with someone who can diligently keep him quiet for another 2 months while his leg heals. We love this boy and want him to have a special home.

Here is little Banjo. He is a 3 year old Aussie/Golden mix. he looks like a minature Golden. He likes cats and other dogs. He chases horses, that is the Aussie part. He weighs about 35 pounds so he is a little guy. He is very affectionate. he is happy to be outside during the day but loves to be in with his people at night.

Puppy

No, we do NOT have this puppy . That was just to get your attention. We generally get dogs that have been lost, neglected or given up because they are rowdy teenagers who were never trained. Or they are old or chunky or abandoned.

Often they look more like this boy

The key is to call us and make sure you are in our data base. I am also going to suggest that you join the yahoo email list. Go back to http://www.grrnm.com/ to join. I will start posting there whenever I put up new dogs.

We are also looking at the possibility of bringing some dogs from out of state and doing a golden adoptathon. So, let’s get connected.

And please consider looking at one of the older ones. I love these dogs. And no, do not be fearful that they might *die* too soon. My most favorite rescue dog in the world was Jake who came to me at 13. No one wanted him, so he stayed till he was 16 and blessed my life.

Kathleen

Zoe was adopted within 20 minutes ..

We are going to be getting other dogs, so keep in touch.

This is the report we got from the owner who is giving Zoe up.

Here is Zoe and she is 31/2 even though I think she looks under 2. She was fixed right when we got her 6 months ago and she is up to date on her shots. She is an angel to our little girl and she is a dog that loves companionship. She was an outside dog for the 1st three years of her life and she’s been basically a full time inside dog for us. We are gone during the day for 6-8 hours and she does great. She doesn’t like sleeping on the bed as she sleeps under our bed. She follows me or Julia and has to be in the same room as us. Another cool thing is that she will hang out in the front yard with us and not run off. We live in a cul d sac and everyone loves playing with her. She timid and she does get scared easily.

Please call Patti at 250-2426 if you are interested in seeing Zoe.

Zoe

Well Emily and Louie were ecstatic tonight….their person was able to be reunited!

Thanks to Debbra and Kathleen for the hard work. Nice!!

Emily is a very, very sweet older gal. She is loving, affectionate, low key and very amenable. She has a slight limp but other than that is bright and pronounced fit by the vet. We think she might be about 10. She too was given up by her owner who lost his house. She is looking for a very special home.

Even Mr. Goofy is back home!!! yes!!

Thanks to Kathleen and Debbra for all the hard work!

Louie is a tall, easy going goofy guy. He is hard of hearing but is totally endearing. He is about 7 or 8 and was given up by a guy who lost his family and then lost his home. Louie came to us with his Mom, Emily.

Buddy

Buddy and Rex are brothers. They have been outside guys, but are ready to learn a new life. They like people. They have had basic training. Their owners are moving and will not be able to take them with them.

Big Guy 1

Big Dog 2

Big Guy (Chester) was found on street in Carlsbad with another dog, spent week in local shelter, unclaimed, unchipped, overheated, stinky etc. He weighs 87 lbs looks skinny but vet said ideal weight, appears young. He has been vaccinated (including kennel cough) and groomed his past week, coat looks sad, I think from poor nutrition, heartworm free but should start monthly tabs within month, was sprayed with something anti-tick at shelter and we applied Frontline July 9

Big Guy (Chester) has very sweet disposition, responsive to training but does not know any commands, wants to please, pleasant with other dogs, focus is on people, asks for attention , does not bark in the house. He has good manners, does not jump on or push people-just stands in front of you, gives paw.

Jamie

Jamie is 3 years old. He is very bright and loving. Has had his shots and is neutered. He is like many of the young males we get – someone thought he was a darling puppy and never trained him. He needs consistency and some work and will make a great pet. If you would like to see him, Call his foster mom directly at 898-8023. Her name is Melanie.
