Adopted

Cooper is a Golden Retriever Cross who is about 18 months. He has a gorgeous coat and is very loving. He is very attached to people, very affectionate and loyal. He would be an ideal dog for someone with acreage. He is very willing to learn new things. He is playful and has a lot of energy. He is still a teenager and needs a lot of exercise. He will do better as the only dog in the family.

Cooper has been with me for a while. You may wonder why he doesn’t have a home yet…here is a little of his back story. When he arrived, he was kinda out of control. I think he had not any any training at all. He was sort of wild and rambunctious. I have been doing rehab with him. He needs way more exercise that he is getting here, but he is learning to hold his adolescent enthusiasm and wait for dinner and not leap around.

He does not like other male dogs, so this means I cannot put him in a home with another boy.He also has no idea of his body, so I am not going to place him in a home with small children. And he needs some training That is what all the code above means.

Gabby

Gabby

Gabby is an 8 year old sweet girl. She was with an 85 year old woman who fell and broke her hip and needed to go into assisted living. Gabby had just been left in the back yard by herself. The husband thought the solution would be to take her down to the river and throw her away. Their daughter came over from Arizona to work on settling things up and called us about Gabby. She was in pretty bad shape, so she took her to be groomed, ie shaved, before she arrived.

The first 4 days, Gabby in the back corner of our rescue vard where she could not be seen. However, she loves to eat, so she would come out for dinner and discovered that being petted and loved was kinda a nice thing. She perked up and started bossing around the 5 teenaged boy dogs in her care. her tail was waggin and she was smilin.

I noticed she had a lump on her back. The daughter said the vet said it was a lipoma (a fatty tissue), but my intuition was otherwise. I took her to the vet for an exam and shots (she had never had them) and a check on the lump. The vet aspirated it and said the cells suggested cancer and we should take the lump off and also remove any other bumps. They gave us an estimate to do the bloodwork, surgery and pathology and it came out to about $1000. We are a very small group and our cash reserves really are donation to donation so that seemed out of the question. We felt that Gabby might be better served by our transferring her up to the CO Rescue who have a lot of money and resources.

But the story continues as most GRRNM stories do…I got an email from one of our adopters about the *older girl* and could they foster her. I said yes before we had the news back on the surgery cost. They came over anyway. Gabby decided she didn’t care about going to Colorado, and just stepped right into their hearts. So we decided we would keep Gabby and do some fundraising for her. All donations are tax deductable.

If you would like to help, go back to the home page here and click on the paypal button. This girl deserves to be loved, be well and stay with her new family who adore her. I know we can do this!

email me at kathleen@radiantrecovery.com if you have questions about her.

BrooksBrooks

Brooks is a older boy who came to us from Texas. Their family situation meant they are not able to provide for him so they released him to us. He has a history of being *anxious* with thunder storms. My experience with him is that he is only anxious if he is locked up and left alone 🙂 He has been fine with me.

He is funny, happy and likes everyone. He is great with kids, likes other dogs, loves to play fetch.

He is neutered, has had his shots and is chipped

email me if you would like to me him. kathleen@radiantrecovery.com

Mister

Mister is a 2 year old something with an amazing personality. The Hobbs shelter called me and said *we have a Golden Retriever, can you take him?* I said, *send me a picture, please.* Then they emailed again and said, *Ok, we are ready to send him.* I said, *picture, please*. So finally they did, LOL.

I thought, *that is NOT a Golden Retriever by ANY stretch of the imagination* but I happen to have space and he is really cute. They said he has a darling personality, likes dogs, likes people. He is neutered, has had his shots and is chipped.

So you know what I said, * All right, all right, send him over.* I am still laughing. He looks like a Meercat. I could cheat and say he was a Golden Cross, but I don’t know it would be with. His personality is a Golden.

So if anyone would like a loving, affectionate goofy looking dog that has been screened by your local Golden Retriever Rescue, Mister is your boy.

Rio

Rio was surrendered by his owner who adored him. He surrendered him because of illness in the family. Here is what he said about Rio:

He loves to play ball.  Like a lot of Goldens he likes to carry things around in his mouth (balls, pillows, etc).  He is a house dog but for most of the past 4 years he has had the run of the 5 acres we lived on.  He was around animals including horses, steers, peacocks and other birds.  He never bothered any of them.  Our grandson is now 6 years old and he has been around and been very good and gentle.  There has also been a house cat that he did not necessarily love but he was gentle. He is a very sweet boy and our greatest desire is to find him  a loving home.

He has a special pillow that he loves. This is a very sweet dog that will make a loving family companion.

Lucky puppies

Lucky puppies

ok, so we are getting 2 male puppies today. They are about 9 weeks old. Our driver says the little black one is VERY mellow.

I am going to get them over to the vet in the morning to get checked. Obviously, we will have a gadzillion people who want them, so I am adding a criteria to the regular process we go through.

I want whoever gets these puppies to be totally committed to clicker training them. When you write to inquire, tell me what you know about clicker training and why you think this would work for you. Talk about your commitment to working with your puppy with this kind of training.

email me at kathleen@radiantrecovery.com….don’t call, LOL. EMAIL please. Thanks!
